Shoes & Bags, Bags & Shoes

Happy Sunday.  I've been MIA lately simply because I haven't been in the mood.  I've been pretty uninspired by J. Crew's latest offerings.  Thanks to Gigi I am looking forward to the September roll-out.  But, really,  how many shiny café capris can one girl have?

I like that the fall offerings from numerous retailers include camo and leopard.  I have always been a leopard fan, but have found some of the new offerings, like Ann Taylor's flower leopard pattern, different and fun.  I'm also fond of camo print and have a pair of J. Crew camo cargos from several years ago that I still wear.  Last year I purchased a camo print jacket from Gap on super sale and I'm glade it will still be on trend this fall.  I recently purchased a pair of boy's camo slip-on sneakers from Target for $16.99.  The boys size 4 fits my 7/7.5 foot great.  Today I ordered the camo ankle zip skinny jeans from Banana Republic.  None of my local stores carry them so I thought I would try them out while the 40% off FALLFIX sale is going on.

Since I haven't been buying clothes lately, I've been buying shoes and handbags.  Hey, a girl's gotta shop.  I found this Kate Spade beauty at TJ Maxx.  If you don't shop at TJ, you should.  It is definitely hit or miss, but definitely worth a walk through any time you are near a store.  You never know what you might find.

I have also recently re-acquainted myself with Coach.  I used to buy a lot of Coach, but hadn't in the last few years.  I get private sale invitations from Coach Factory and they have some awesome buys.  And it's not just factory stuff - they get retail stuff too.  I recently purchased this Coach Haley Satchel which was a retail store offering.  I love the neutral sand color.  Regular price was $358 and I paid $179 through the private sale.  If you are interested in being added to the private sale list, send me your email address and I'll send you an email invitation.

You may remember this Coach Park Cross-body I purchased awhile back.  I paid right at $100 for it through the private sale.

My latest shoe shopping has been at Ann Taylor.  I've never bought shoes from there until now and I am a fan.  I have purchased 2 pairs of the Marla Quilted Leather Block Heels and LOVE them.  They are super comfortable and run true to size for me.   I ordered the Luxury color and the Siren color.  The Luxury is a tan/beige that is an exact match to my new Coach Haley in Sand.  I am a sucker for matching shoes and handbags as old-fashioned as it might be.  These have the black patent leather toe cap and heel.  They look VERY Chanel, in my opinion.  The Siren is a great burgundy color that pairs well with my J. Crew Heather Burgundy Tippi and Burgundy #2 Pencil Skirt from last year (not that I would wear them all together).  I was able to get them when Ann Taylor had 40% off everything and I am anxiously waiting for the next 40% off sale so I can order the Midnight (Navy) ones too.

  1. Great to see a new post from you! I agree about TJ Maxx --- it is always worth a peek inside if you have the time.

  2. Hi! Here in Canada, we have Winners (which I think is actually owned by TJ Maxx) - I have gotten some good deals there through the years - this past week I bought multiples of a Tahari shawl collar cardigan as they were fabulous and only $35 each. My motto there is strike while the iron is hot. Anne Taylor has just started shipping to Canada, so I think may order something - and coincidentally, I have the camo skinny pants coming from Gap for a try on! Love that, too! Like all of your picks!

    1. The nice thing about Winners and TJMaxx is that there return policy is fair. I have a special card ( from Winners ) that gives me 30 days for full refund. I have bought purses , shoes and other stuff that went unworn or used and with the tags on I have been given store credit. I do shop there a fair amount so at some point I will spend it. So there is no dreaded FINAL SALE unlike some retail 'WHOSE NAME WE DO NOT SPEAK " Carolyn from Vancouver P.S love your post...great pics.

    2. The store credit was for over 30 days and some of theses items I had for quite awhile...but unworn ...tags on they take them back. I like that. Carolyn from Vancouver

    3. Hi, WMM. I tried the Gap camo pants in-store but they were too skinny me for me. I hope they work for you and I'll let you know how they Banana ones turn out. I've haven't liked Ann Taylor for awhile but it seems they are stepping up their game. Glade they are shipping to Canada now.

  3. Welcome back! I missed your posts. It doesn't matter if its new or Crew! Lol. I, too, have been bleh about my usual shopping spot which is BR. I bought nothing all summer from there. I stepped into TJ Maxx for the first time and bought a few dresses and love them. What a score. It is definately hit or miss. So far I have gone 3 times and the first time was the score with the 2 Maggy London dresses for $29 and a JCrew necklace for $29. I have shopped ebay for purses and scored 2 beautiful new handbags. MK Hamilton Saffiano Tote in Cadet for 1/2 the price as instore and I also picked up a wine colors Tod's "D" bag for 1/10th of the price. The listing was a mistake but she honored the price when I emailed her. Yay! I just love the fall AT line. I mean EVERYTHING. Usually their clothes don't fit me or their shoes but I just placed a whopper of an order including 2 pairs of wine colored shoes, wine colored belt and that cute kissing fox sweater. Waiting anxiously for their arrival. Please give a review on those camo pants. I almost bought them today online while I placed an order at Old Navy for the kids back to school clothes but there are no reviews and the very bottom of the pant makes me nervous with the zip. I love camp and used to own a pair of pants years ago until I wore them out.

    1. Hi! TJ Maxx has lots of J. Crew knock off jewelry lately. I've also picked up some pieces of Kate Spade there too. Congrats on your Ebay scores! I have my eye on that kissing fox sweater at Ann Taylor. Now I just need another 40% off promo....

    2. I just got in the mail today and love them!! I wished I ordered the Siren color too. I ordered the Macey Strappy leather heel in the siren but did not like them on me at all. Let's hope there's another sale coming up.
