White Out

I love an all white outfit!  I missed out on this top from retail so I was super excited when it came out on J. Crew Factory online a couple of weeks ago.  I was able to get it when everything was 40% off and I used my 20% off $125 coupon.  What a deal!  I LOVE this top!!  I was also able to get the eyelet white sleeveless top that I missed at retail last year.  I don't see either online anymore and I'm not sure if they are in-store.  I was planning to choose between the 2 tops, but have decided to keep both!

J. CREW REVIEWS: NEW ARRIVALS

I received my order of new arrivals from the latest roll-out today.  I took advantage of the tiered promo and was so excited to be able to purchase some new arrivals at great prices.  My excitement waned, however, upon opening my new purchases.....

Overall, I'm disappointment, but my wallet's not.

First up,  the Collection Silk-Linen Skirt in Monarch - $288 - Item #01309.  I was super excited for this one and the colors were very vibrant which was great.  However, there is no IRL photo with the skirt on me because I couldn't get the skirt on me!!  I know I've gained a couple of pounds, but this was 1 to 2 sizes too small.  I could barely get it on and I definitely couldn't zip it up.  I was also disappointed in the weight of the fabric - it seemed thin and flimsy.  It is lined and I like the kick pleat in the front instead of the back.  I really like the colors and the pattern so I might try it again in a larger size but only on super sale.

Vacationland Blouse - $125 - Item #81102.  I'm on the fence with this one.  Thumb to the side as Gigi would say.  It feels like I'm wearing pajamas - not sure if it looks like I'm wearing pajamas.  I love the kitschy pattern and the colors in the pattern.  I think it would be super cute with the lavender #2 pencil skirt that recently sold out (story of my life :)) and black accessories.  I'm not sure about the background color as it is very close to skin color and is not uber flattering.  The fabric is pretty thin and I would want to wear a cami under it.  I will keep this one for awhile - try it on with some different outfits and then decide.  Glad I ordered online and I have 60 days to decide.

 

 

Linen Island Tee - $49.50 - item 01221.  I have been on a linen tee craze lately, but this one was a definite "NO".  The colors were nice, but I don't think the anyone would know what the print is unless you know what the print is - YKWIM?  Although it is a beach scene, it doesn't seem like a happy beach scene.  Seems like it's dark and cloudy and the photo says it's in Thailand - Tsunami coming?!  No thanks.

Parrot Pendant Necklace - $78.00 -  item 02591.  I love pendant necklaces and this one is no exception.  Colors are great and quality seems good.  Finally, a "Yes, Please".

 

Summer Chic

In case you haven't heard, it is hot and humid in South Florida in the summertime.  My go-to outfit in the summer is shorts and a tee.  I bought these shorts at Banana Republic and love them.  The fit and fabric is similar to J. Crew's chino shorts, but they seem a little dressier with the tortoise buttons and cuffed hems.  This tee was a recent purchase at Loft during one of their frequent promos.  It is 100% linen.  It is somewhat sheer, but with a nude bra it doesn't bother me.  I love the fit and the weight of it.

Whale of a Tippi

I really like the new linen Tippi with the embroidered whales!  My daughter asked if I got in the Crewcuts department :(.  This is a size small - the same as all of my Tippis, Charlies, etc. so I would say it runs true to size.  I did wear a cami under it just like I do all of my Tippis.  I've heard comments about itchiness, sheerness, stretching, and snagging, but I had none of these issues.  I think it will also go great with my green J. Crew #2 Pencil Skirt and my green J. Crew chino shorts!

Pattern Play

This is the J. Crew navy & white striped pencil skirt which seems to have disappeared from online.  It was still full price in stores last week-end.  At my store these were hanging with the solid #2 pencil skirts with a sign above that said $79.50.  They sold it to me at that price plus the 20% off.  What a deal!

I will have new arrivals to review next week.  I ordered the Tippi in the fish pattern (how cute with this skirt!), the vacationland blouse, the monarch butterfly skirt, parrot pendant, and the linen island tee.

Blue Monday

It's back to work after a long week-end with my daughter.  She went back to Oklahoma yesterday just in time to deal with all the tornadoes.  One touched down a couple of miles from their home, but fortunately they didn't have any damage.  We did lots of shopping while she was here which is a favorite past time for both of us.

J. Crew Medallion Paisley Pencil Skirt

I was finally able to grab this skirt on popback and so glad I did.  I love it!  Navy, pink, and mint - what's not to love?!  The fabric is great - a textured cotton and fully lined.  It is sold out online, but various sizes popback periodically.

Simplicity

I never rarely wear dresses.  It's not that I don't try.  I just have a weird body that they never fit right on the top and the bottom.  I found this dress at the Tommy Hilfiger Outlet and it worked PLUS it was only $19.99.  That made it perfect in my book.
